DeJa Love

CEO and Founder

DeJa Love has dedicated her life to advocating and holding space for Black Women. She has a passion for supporting Black Women in their wellness journey.

The Black Women’s Wellness Agency, Inc is deeply personal for DeJa. Throughout her 17 year career in public health and health care, she experienced substantial workplace discrimination, despite working hard, being a team player, and volunteering for  projects. DeJa has navigated  colleagues who belittled her, did not support her, and invalidated her contribution. The accumulation of these experiences, and the COVID-19 Pandemic (when she lost three family members) contributed to DeJa’s  burnout. DeJa became immensely reflective and realized after surveying Black Women in her community, the commonality shared was how stressed many felt, especially when managing so much, on top of vast social inequities.

DeJa serves her local community as a Docent at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum for African American History and Culture, Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and Black Yoga Teachers Alliance, and is a Certified Personal Trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine.

DeJa received her Master of Public Health (MPH) from Emory University and her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute. Her 17-year career includes working in every sector, the federal government, local government, academia, private sector, and non-profit. DeJa specializes in health equity, the social determinants of health, and population health. DeJa’s passion for health equity was fostered during her two-year Peace Corps Volunteer service in rural Swaziland, where she focused on community health and development. DeJa has committed herself to creating innovative solutions that minimize healthcare disparities experienced by Black Women.

    Supportive & Innovative

I had the opportunity to work with the Black Women's Wellness Agency. They served as a Consultant for our organization, CLASP...DeJa was very supportive of our mental health work. She came to the organization and hit the ground running on how we could improve processes and innovate new ways to disseminate information. I really enjoyed having BWWA as a thought partner as I strategized new ways to move the work forward. The one thing I wish for during my time with BWWA is that we had more time...Overall, I would recommend this Agency to anyone who is seeking someone with strong knowledge about Public and Mental health and needs support with moving their work forward in creative and concise ways.

Outstanding From Start to Finish

As a Black Woman, I rate BWWA as nothing less than OUTSTANDING! The way they are caring for the Black community is remarkable and the spectrum of services available at BWWA caters to a vast audience. Great work!!

      Appreciated & Effective

DeJa provided critical support while a colleague was out on parental leave and helped us to maintain a foothold in key parts of our mental health work. I particularly appreciated DeJa's role as support and advisor to more junior members of the team-a-role that it is typically difficult to fill effectively with a consultant. This was a unique skillset. I would recommend the BWWA to colleagues or partners. Thanks for your support DeJa! We appreciate you!
